The Department of Economics is part of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences (WISO) at the University of Bern. Our research focuses on monetary macroeconomics, empirical public economics, and organizational and industrial economics.

We teach at bachelor and master level. Our bachelor courses are part of the faculty’s degree programs and combine strong theoretical foundations with empirical and applied perspectives. At master level, we offer specialized programs, including the MSc in International and Monetary Economics, run jointly with the University of Basel.

Through policy advice, we maintain close ties with institutions such as the Swiss National Bank, SECO and the OECD.
